The testament of Moses in which he appointed Joshua the son of Nun, in the one hundred and twentieth year of his life, that is the two thousand five hundredth year from the creation of the world.

When he had been taken up, he called Joshua the son of Nun, a man approved of the Lord,

That he should be the minister to the people and the tabernacle of the testimony with all its sacred things, and that he should bring the people into the land given to their fathers,

That it should be given to them through the covenant and through the oath which He spake in the tent to give it through Joshua.

And he said to Joshua: Be strong, and take courage, for God hath appointed thee to be their successor in His covenant unto this people.

And he spake unto him, saying: I shall tell thee what will happen from the time that I die until the end. I have been ordained from the ends of the world to be the mediator of His covenant.

And now I declare unto thee that the time of the years of my life is fulfilled and I am passing away to sleep with my fathers even in the presence of all the people.

And receive thou this writing that thou mayest know how to preserve the books which I shall deliver unto thee.

And thou shalt set these in order and anoint them with oil of cedar and put them away in earthen vessels in the place which He made from the beginning of the creation of the world,

That His name should be called upon until the day of repentance in the visitation wherewith the Lord will visit them in the consummation of the end of the days.

For they will go astray after strange gods; but God who formed them on the earth and who appointed us to be the mediators of His covenant from the beginning of the world has so determined.

And He designed and devised me, and He prepared me before the foundation of the world, that I should be the mediator of His covenant.

And now I declare unto thee openly that the time of His compassion and longsuffering is at hand.
